ANTENATAL COUPLE COURSES
On fatherhood after course; I was a little sceptical before coming to the sessions, as I wasn’t too sure what to expect. Anita quickly made us all feel comfortable & it was a relaxed environment. I particularly enjoyed finding out about the areas where I could be involved and to not feel so helpless during labour. I personally haven’t had a lot of interaction with babies & this course has gone a long way to eliminate any fears I had and has given me confidence to tackle fatherhood.
It’s been really great to meet a lovely bunch of people who all share the same hope and fears so you know that you’re not alone. The sessions have been very informative and well-structured and overall it’s been an invaluable few weeks – I would recommend it to everyone who’s going to become a parent.
Feel a lot more prepared. Mentally ready and confident. Enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere. Did well to get me out of my shell and contribute as I am quite shy naturally and a little nervous at first. Very knowledge providing and surprised people get through birth without this advice!
“We both found the refresher course a great help, as well as a great forum for meeting other second time parents and discussing common issues, combined with your invaluable experience and guidance. I now feel more confident about labour and birth, and asking more questions to get the experience I want. Particularly useful points were reminders of the physiological stages of labour and birth, importance of breathing and being assertive during labour, as well as discussions re the sibling relationship and your guidance there, I feel more confident in that respect. I also found the practical session of labour and trying positions and techniques for calming/ pain relief was really useful. I was pleased to try out the birth pool as this is something I hope to use in this birth, and I found it comfortable and comforting. I did find some parts of the course made me feel quite emotional, remembering my first experience of birth, and thinking forward to the life changes the next few months will bring again.”
